The Amla fruit, also known as Indian Gooseberry, is a sour, bitter, and astringent fruit that is second only to Barbados Cherry in it's Vitamin C content (approximately 600-700 mg. per fruit). It is also an exceptional antioxidant; the ORAC value of this plant is approximately 261,500 per 100 grams. The Amla berry is called sarvadosha hara in Indian, which means ‘remover of all diseases’, and it is widely used in Ayurvedic medicine.
